Charli XCX Just Inaugurated The Jorts And Boots Combo For Autumn

The saddest part about autumn – other than, you know, the lack of sun and the weird mulchy smell outside – is how you have to hide away all your summer clothes and start wearing big thick things that cover up your skin. Not so for Charli xcx, who hasn’t thrown out her summer gear, exactly, but rather… repurposed it for the autumn season. Enter: the jorts and boots combo, with a tiny leather AUPEN handbag and a faux-fur coat thrown over the top for good measure. Never has Charli xcx looked quite so Charli xcx while walking around the East Village.

The look is fitting with Charli’s style, which has always skirted between casual and glam with the ease of those who have so many events within 24 hours (work meeting at 8pm, warehouse party by 9pm) that they can’t change outfits for all of them. The slouchy boots combined with her Ksubi denim shorts also mean that, although her look doesn’t appear wintery, she’s actually very covered. Just so long as she doesn’t sit down for too long. Extra points for the big black Givenchy shades in mid-November. Sunglasses, like jorts, can indeed be worn all-year round.

Charli also knows that throwing on a voluminous top coat – a key autumn/winter 2024 trend – is a great way to basically wear whatever you want once the temperature drops. Not ready to stop wearing those baby tees? That’s fine, just put on a faux fur. Don’t want to quit your summer jorts even though it’s nearly Christmas? Also fine, do the same thing. There are no hard-and-fast rules when it comes to autumn dressing. Or if there are, then Charli xcx just broke all of them.
